Alex Duccini - 10-26-2008
A long time has passed and doesn't it go FAST! I have had a wonderful last 45 years, had quite the adventures including a few marriages, 2 biological children ( a son and a daughter) and LOTS of stepchildren to call my own. I have 2 biological grandchildren ( boy and girl) and was recently presented with a step grandaughter. My wife and I own and operate a plumbing construction company in California, it is doing well, albeit a little slow with the economy the way it is. I had the chance to experience living in another country, I spent 3 years living in Australia from 2003 to 2006. My wife is Australian and we thought it was time I got a taste of her country. We both decided to come back home to the good old USA in 2006. No place like home!! We are planning on attending the next class gathering, missed the last couple, out of the country for the 30th, and didn't know about the 40th.  Glad to see so many of us still around! Looking forward to contacting those who I remember and those who remember me.  Cheers, Alex!

Can't believe how much time has past since we were all in high school. I started booking bands, i.e., Drifters, Coasters, Hollywood All-Stars, etc., for Fraternity parties in my Senior year and stayed with the Entertainment Industry ever since. After Grant, I went to Valley College for three terms, i.e., Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. Then promoted concerts at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara and Swing Auditorium in San Bernadino for four and a half years. When cable TV developed, I was a major supplier of films to HBO, Showtime, Spotlight, Z Channel, On TV, and so on. Was the co-founder of Trimark Pictures, which I started in 1983, took public, and was eventually sold to Lionsgate. Currently, my company is the largest supplier of films to Lionsgate, and have been producing feature films (Nine in the last two and half years). Building a home in Hidden Hills with my Wife of 18 years. We have a three-year-old daughter, which is our first and last. Just happy to be alive and healthy and my goal is to stay that way and see my daughter walk down the aisle in marriage. Wishing all of you health and happiness.
Beverly (Capobianco) Gietzen - 09-22-2008
I live in San Luis Obispo.  Bruce & I have a son and a daughter together ( he is
remarried and has an 11 yr old son).  Our daughter is getting married next
weekend in Pennsylvania, so I'll be east coast bound tomorrow.
I've lost track of Penny (Goodman) Perry Davis, and Pat (Garret) Toronto, and
I'd sure like to hear from them.  And anyone else who was a Chamrelon with us.
I still have an old album that survived when my house burned down.  Some things never cease to amaze me!
I'll be back home around the 6th of October, so I won't respond until after
settling back down.
Hope to hear from you soon.................Bev

Living in Walnut Creek, No. CA. I retired in April 2007 after practicing law for 32 years. I'm 'on the bubble' about attending the reunion next month. Wish I knew who will attend. It could pull me off the golf course or tennis court.
Best to all, Len Cook (aka Louie the Lancer)

Was checking out the Grant High School website.. what a great idea... found an old classmate from Sun Valley Jr. High who attended Grant High School.
I went to John H. Francis Polytechnic and still think of some of the old 'sun valley' classsmates who went to Grant.. and my sons went there years later

Do you ever wonder about any of your old friends and classmates from elementary school or junior high school who you got separated from and lost contact with when you came to Grant and they went on to Van Nuys?  Do you ever wish that there was some way to reconnect with them?
Well, you are not alone!  Apparently, over the past few years, there have been a number of inquires as to the possibility of reconnecting the 1963 classes from the two high schools.  As a result, discussions are currently in process regarding having some type of a 'turning 64' birthday party jointly with the 1963 class from Van Nuys.  Such an event is being considered for the summer of 2009.
In the interim, our reunion committee is in the process of extending invitations to all members of Van Nuys 1963 class to our reunion event of Saturday, October 18, 2008, and to the picnic at Grant on Sunday. At the same time, all members of our class have been invited to attend Van Nuys’ 1963 class, 45th year reunion, which has been scheduled for Saturday, August 9th, 2008.
If you are in contact with any old friends from Van Nuys 1963 class, please refer them to this website.  And if you think that you might be interested in attending Van Nuys August 9th, 2008 event, details of that event are available at their website at:

I just checked out the website and it is delightful.  Many thanks to all of you who must have worked on it.  I won't be able to attend the reunion, but will follow the website and look at all the pictures.

I live and work in Houston.  Doing work at Johnson Space Center for NASA on Mars and related topics.  Previously had a long career in the oil industry (geologist) and that is why I ended up in Houston.  I am having a great deal of fun with this 'new career' in planetary sciences.  Never a dull moment.

Please feel free to write.

In your 'Memory' section, that pic is not of Joyce Minter.  Sorry.  That was a bad joke the the yearbook committee played.  Ahhhhhhh, high school.  Nothing like it.

all is well

Ah, High School! A wonderful and wondrous time. How little I appreciated that magical time, and how I wish I could go back (knowing then what I know now, anyway). But, as they say, youth is wasted on the young, and I now know how true that is. But most years have been kind and some years cruel, and all of them appreciated nonetheless. I've been rich and poor, married and single, somewhat famous (for 15 minutes) and blessedly anonymous, an atheist, an agnostic, and after some very special and enlightening time in India, a believer (believe it or not).

Impossible to recount so many decades in a paragraph, but a heartfelt 'thank you' to all who I shared my high school time with (including teachers), and a sincere apology to anyone I may have inadvertently caused any irritation (including teachers). It breaks my heart to see how our clean, wonderful, safe, fun, and joyful U.S. Grant High School has deteriorated into something dirty, dangerous, locked-down, and unrecognizable today. What kind of world has this become where kids are risking their lives when they go to school. I'm truly grateful for the time we all shared at Grant, and I'm fortunate that I was able to send my son to private schools.

If there are any of you who remember me fondly (or not:), please feel free to drop me an e-mail: me@pss3.com

I graduated from Grant in 1987 and curious as to how Grant was at that time

Greetings after these many years.  I am that quiet fellow who drew pictures all the time.  Now not so quiet, a professional artist having lived 5 yrs in Paris, 4 in Brazil, and 19 in Jerusalem, Israel.  Married beautiful Julie and we have a married son and a married daughter and one lovely grandaughter, so far.  Have painted large biblical murals in public buildings in Jerusalem, and on bases while serving in the Israeli army.  Lots of painting, drawing, illustration, sculpture and whatnot also.  Am still in touch with some of my friends from Grant and those pre-historic days.  Would be nice to hear from some of you others.
CAROL PENNY BROWN - 01-08-2008

Betzi (Betsey) Stein - 01-02-2008
I've been having a great time perusing this site!  I've been a professional massage therapist since 1987.  I'm also an artist specializing in portraiture.  Feel free to take a look at my web site: www.betzistein.com.  I'm divorced, no kids, 1 doggie, live in West L.A.  I'd love to hear from any of you. It would be fun to catch up.  All the best, Betzi Stein
Jana Janczarek DuBois - 12-23-2007
Great site!  Extremely happily married.  Three kids.  Eleven grandkids.  Two great-grandkids.  Twenty-five years in events including professional soccer, formula car racing and fairs.  Six years tugboat engineer - THIS was the best job of them all!  I've lived in the Pacific NW the past 30 years and wouldn't trade it: ocean, sound, sunshine, trees, desert, prairie, snow - what else is there?  Grant was not my favorite time, but life has been a terrific teacher and I've learned more 'on the road' than teachers could imagine.  God Bless in 2008!
